When I first started writing grants more than 15 years ago, I felt completely lost. The nonprofit I founded to support survivors of human trafficking was growing faster than our funding could keep up. I enrolled in a few courses and partnered with a seasoned consultant who helped me learn how to craft project narratives, build budgets, and conduct funder research.

I’ll never forget sitting across a board room table with a senior staff member from a large foundation who had reviewed our proposal and wanted to meet in person. She asked tough questions—about evaluation, sustainability, and long-term impact. Thanks to the preparation I had received, I was ready—and we secured our very first six-figure grant.

Since then, I’ve written hundreds of proposals—private, state, and federal—and coached countless nonprofits to do the same. I’ve learned that every “no” can be a stepping stone to a bigger “yes” when you combine perseverance, patience, and authentic relationships with donors. My goal is to help you experience that same breakthrough and build lasting confidence in your grant strategy.
